Hardcat saves money for disability services organisations

Jun 24, 2011

CAEP has enabled the pooling of disability equipment from four organisations - Therapy Focus, Disability Services Commission, Rocky Bay Village and Cerebral Palsy Association. The program is to take control of unused equipment from the four organisations, refurbish it & pool it for re-use as an ‘as new’ item.

The Hardcat system has enabled the comprehensive tracking of equipment through its full life cycle including refurbishment & re-sale, whilst the Hardcat Web interface allows individual therapists to review & request equipment for their clients based on the specifications held in Hardcat.

The greatest single benefit from the Hardcat solution is that therapists can speed up the delivery of the right equipment to the people who need it. “There have traditionally been very long waiting times in most cases for equipment to actually get to the clients,” CAEP Program Manager Valerie Ford said.

“After we had the asset tracking processes in place, we undertook an exercise to measure savings from July 2010 to February 2011,” Ford said. “Over that period of time, the four major organisations had saved $147,000 which represented a great return on investment for us.”
